★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We decided hike to the peak, it wasn’t easy and it takes a bit of a time but view worth it, very nice, quite windy on the top, waterfalls have probably easier access, hopefully next time

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fresh snow making for a superb Tramp to the Summit.
Warning the Summit loop back to Coopers Carpark is significantly longer than the DOC information 8 hour round trip.
Signage at Summit doesn't include Tramp hour or distance or mention of Coopers Carpark onward journey only hence in the direction you came.
Misleading as if you continue the so called expected loop back to Coopers add 2.5 hours .
You actually end up near View Hill Carpark after a 4 hour Tramp with a signage advising distance to Coopers still a further 2.5 hours tracking along the bottom of Mt Oxford range.
My daughter and I were caught out with fading daylight temp -1 after 8 hour Tramping Summit loop to discover we still had another 2.5 hours back to the car at Coopers Carpark.
DOC certainly caused us tremendous emotional strain and anxiety having to raise the alarm family in Christchurch to rescue us from View Hill Carpark.
Definitely could have been a grave outcome especially as our cellphone coverage was almost non existent.
Would suggest to all in Tramping to the Summit from Coopers Carpark 'return' the same way you came.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice track and beautiful waterfall. Watch out for mozzies and sandflies in summer. Be sure to go with people as you’ll want someone to open and close the gates for you as you pass through the farms. I’d recommend taking a 4wd to cross the rivers along the way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great hike to mount Oxford and Rydes fall. Around 7 hours loop from Coopers Creek car park (with plenty of stops for photos and lunch). The hike to the summit is pretty steep around 2h30 but the view up there is really nice. From the top is mainly down hill till the fall. Around 2 hours. And finally a good 2 hours to get back to the car park. Well marked and well maintained path. The fall is pretty nice too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Did the coopers creek loop in 7hr in the rain. Walked to Ryde Falls before reaching the summit. There’s a nice campsite just by the stream at Ryde Falls! Would be super keen to spend a night there, listening to the waterfall. The send is over 1200m, but really worth it. It was very cloudy, so didn’t get much of a view. But still a stunning hike! Absolutely in love with the forest.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing views and walking tracks
The walk to the Ryde Falls is amazing.
Just note that the area is full of sandflies durin the summer, so don't forget to have insect repellent spray with you :-)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Be well prepared if you want to do the loop track! Our group of 21 broke into four groups due to the challenge. We (3) completed full loop in 7.5hrs. Boots, poles and allot of water recommended

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Mt Oxford walking track is 4 hours to the summit. Department of Conservation has listed this
track as advanced. It also states that suitable footwear is required: "Tramping/hiking boots."
Never got to the summit, as another party sprained their ankle on this steep and unforgiving
rugged track. Plus there were very strong howling winds in exposed places, once you left the ridgeline of the beech forest.
So proceeded to turn around. It is not about getting to the top but safely getting down.
The mountain will be there another day to climb.
