I’ve visited Mount Wellington Family Health Centre for a little over four years, and never took issue with their service until recently. I have chosen to move offices this week due to the poor experience I had at a last minute appointment I secured with Dr. Jim Kriechbaum for my 1 y/o daughter last month - I’ve had two appointments with him over the entirety of my time with this office, and my personal experiences both times were negative. I found him to be ignorant, assumptive, dismissive and frustratingly condescending. To any Māori or Tagata Pasifika whānau - solo māmā specifically*, who are looking to secure a doctors appointment through this office, my recommendation would be to book in with Dr. Kirsty Good if she’s available or Dr. Chang. I’ve booked with these two doctors a number of times and they’ve both been wonderfully helpful, and there’s a notable difference in the level of care they provide in comparison to my experiences with Dr. Kriechbaum. You can sense the genuine care for you/your whānau health whenever you visit them.

So impressed with this practice. Dr Hsin-Yao Chang has been amazingly thorough with follow up on my condition and a compassionate and genuinely caring doctor. Also super impressed with Dr Janet Hutchins who took all precautions with my condition, did thorough testing and then referred me to specialist departments as required. Highly skilled team of health professionals who really care about their patients. Also love that I can always get an appointment when required. Thank you so much.

I have been with the clinic for almost 20 years and regularly recommend them to friends and family. They are generally running a bit late, but this has improved since they have opened up more rooms and have more GPs and Locums in the practice. When specialists appointments are needed they are great at getting their referrals prioritised efficiently with the DHB. For some services they recommend private consultations (if you are insured) for efficiency and to keep pressure out of the public system. Their online Health365 system is great and you can review your past notes, prescriptions and tests, get a nurses/doctors appointment or get a repeat prescription sent to your normal pharmacy this way, or with a med courier service. My partner needed a COVID vaccination and was given one the same day we called. For COVID tests they are open every day, will book you in for a time and give you a test in their carpark in a very efficient fashion – no waiting.

Dr Martin Ng is fantastic all around. Our family of 3, husband, myself and baby are under his care. He is kind, patient, understanding and good with kids. He follows up with our difficult and complicated medical history. He's knowledgeable and experienced. We are so thankful to have found him as our GP. Thank you again for being so fantastic!

Just wanted to say how impressed I was with the systems you have in place to ensure the safety of all patients during these Covid times. I came in this morning to get my stitches removed after a surgery I had last week on my head. Clear instructions and quick pre-appointment screening questions. But the star of the day is definitely the practise nurse Tara. I have had quite a few surgical procedures that required removal of stitches and today's experience was by far the best. With Tara's gentle touch, I hardly knew that they were being removed. All your hard work and care in these trying times are greatly appreciated.

Discrimination against medical procedures, these doctors have a policy to not treat all patients equally. They are not willing to help all of the patients and I would not recommend. They also do not think beyond the normal for diagnosis or treatment so it takes a long time to get illnesses fixed. The doctors also don't seem to read clinic notes before appointments so you have to wait until they have figured out the background info already given, where they should know this before the appointment and make it faster and easier for everyone. Their systems also don't seem to work well and notes etc have been lost in the past. AVOID this practice

I have been with this practice since 2011. Left for a couple months due to not being able to easily get appointments and some negative experiences but returned after realizing this happens at other practices too. I guess you just have to find the "good" doctors at each practice, that suits you and your family! I must say since I've returned the care/service has improved some what. I tend to stick to Dr Susharma George for myself and for my children Dr Chang. Although recently, I needed a last minute appointment for my son and only Dr Jim was available but he was good. Recommend good meds and testing, also gave good advice.

I've been going to Mt Wellington Family Health Centre for approx 6 years and have never experienced any issues with the practice, I find Dr Martin a very kind person with a positive and happy attitude. But recently I have found one of the receptionist very rude and talks down to people, I found her attitude to be argumentative and negative over the phone. I called to follow up on RATS tests and how to access these, she advised the practice does not provide these tests to take home which is fine but it was the attitude and conversation that followed that annoyed me, she told me to go read the news and if you feel better before 10 days go back to work. This is not the right attitude in a medical profession nor did I find it helpful while dealing with covid, I called the MOH and I should be getting tested on day 3 and 5 and again on day 10 and once it negative go back to work. I hope the receptionist can improve on her communication skills and learn to be a little bit friendlier over the phone.
