About Nature Reserve River Trail

The trails are in the heart of the South Waikato and extend from Atiamuri Village in the south to the southern end of Lake Karapiro in the north. The trail is broken into 5 sections, each section named after the lake that the trail is connected to. For those doing the whole trail, most ride south to north or down stream. This does not mean downhill! For those riding individual sections riding either way is fine.

The 38.3km of trails at the southern end of the trail and the 11.5km at the northern end of the trails are intermediate grade the trails in the middle are graded advanced. The trails are generally 1.5 meters wide with compacted metal surfaces. There are plenty of toilets along the trail but limited drinking water so please be prepared.

Nice little walk along farmland and in the bush. It follows a sandy stream which has very clear water and after climbing the steps you find yourself in the local cemetery.

This is a nice walk on the outskirts of Cambridge. Some of it is through Bush other parts follow a trail through green fields. The trail also passes a stream with a picnic table near it with a small waterfall. We found 3 ways in or out. One of the ways in or out is via a cemetery with a memorial to 27 soldiers who lost their lives in the NZ Wars . There is a memorial to them. The walk doesn't take too long , 25 mins to come in and go back the same way. There are quite steep steps in places. Def worth a look.

Beautiful path, winds through forest and paddocks. Recommend having a walk in the fresh stream too :)

Nice little walk in nature, pretty natural bush. You can walk around the chimney above the walk. Interesting grave sites.
