★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Waipuke park is an upgraded public space down the south side of lake Karapiro. The new parking, public toilets and play ground are great. There a several points to access the lake shore.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A really nice spot. There was nobody there when we visited but can imagine it gets very popular in summer as there is a swimming zone there and a really great playground. We enjoyed a picnic lunch - although there are sand flies so make sure to pack some insect repellent. Also worth mentioning that to access this park you are required to travel a substantial distance on a dirt / gravel road that has very many potholes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect for families with kids that crave the playground and water. Good place to for family events and other gatherings. During the summer season on a hot day, make sure to bring a tent or umbrella as there is hardly any shade around other than the big tree at the car park and the trees at one end of the park near the water.
