The Newtown Community and Cultural Centre was established in 1977. The centre is located on the corner of Colombo and Rintoul Streets. Its central location in the heart of Newtown makes it the perfect venue for the wide range of classes, activities and events we have on offer. Need to hire a venue?
Our community centre is getting renovated - so our main centre (with dancehall, theatre, meeting rooms) is currently closed. However, we have a fantastic new space - that has some community space for hire. We also manage the Newtown Hall on Daniell St (opposite the Mediterranean Food Warehouse), with full kitchen and bathroom facilities, this stand-alone hall is the ideal venue for classes, meetings, and your next special event.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A serviceable venue for a community hub. In winter there's free soup on Fridays for those struggling. There's also frozen meals you can buy that are vegetarian. There's also a CAB here and sometimes a JP.
