Our warmest welcome to you. Ngatea Motel (previously known as Thames Valley Motel) is situated in Ngatea which is the first town on State Highway 2 on the Auckland to Tauranga route. The town is in the middle of one of New Zealand's main farming area; the Hauraki Plains.
Ngatea Motel is your ideal location if you are looking to explore the internationally recognised attractions of the Coromandel Peninsula and yet be within 100km of Auckland and Hamilton. Rotorua and Tauranga are within a 90-minute drive, so is Hobbiton. Within 20 minutes of us lies the Firth of Thames with the Miranda shorebird sanctuary, hot pools and the historic gold-mining town of Thames. The Hauraki Rail walking and cycling trail from Miranda to Paeroa is also within this distance.
Ngatea Motel lies in the town centre. All cafΓ©s in town are within a 5-minute walk from the motel. So are the supermarkets, medical centre, community pool and playgrounds.

β β β β β It was adequate for the weekend. Rooms were a good size and clean. Oldest stoves I've seen (even in Fahrenheit) but they work fine. Can someone PLEASE clean up the garden in front. Dead weeds 1m high do not a garden make.

Priced right ,handy to all food eateries all within 1 min walk ...NZ best cafe is straight across the street if you want breakfast, or a great coffee.

β β β β β Very old not entirely clean but did have clean sheets. No salt/pepper, no dishwashing liquid. No large cutting or bread knife. Regular channels on TV said had Netflix but only could watch a couple movies and that was it. Paid over the top expecially for a week night compared to other motels the couple of nights before. Grandson stayed so charged an extra $20 on top making price higher than average over NZ. Nothing to do outside except stand. Not happy at all and never again.
