Situated on the Awakino River one hour north of New Plymouth, two hours south of Hamilton and three-and-a-half hours from Auckland it's a haven from city stress and strain. The local area has classic west coast beaches, fishing, hunting, tramping, a golf course and is world famous in New Zealand for its whitebait.
Take a stroll on the wide open black sand beaches, picturesque with Mt Taranaki in the background on a clear day. Try your hand at fishing for kahawhai at either the Mokau or Awakino rivermouths, or snapper and gurnard from the beach (we can point you to our favourite spots). There's also great kite or kontiki fishing, with massive snapper landed for those who know where to go....
The famous White Cliffs tramp is only a short drive away, or go for a walk to see the Three Sisters rock formations at low tide. Good surfing is available all down the coast towards New Plymouth.
