About Orakei Marae
Occupation of Ngāti Whātua in Tāmaki Makaurau began in the 17th Century under the leadership of our rangatira (chief) Tuperiri. As such, every member of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei can trace their whakapapa (genealogy) to Tuperiri and are descended from the 3 hapū (sub-tribes): Te Taoū, Ngā Oho and Te Uringutu, collectively referred to as Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. Today, the collective affairs of the sub-tribe are looked after by the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Five star Marae from the Gateway the entrance of the doorway and into the Wharehui meeting house. The Whare Kai Dinning room wis is well designed designed and modern the views through the windows are fantastic over the Harbour and across to Waiheke Island wow.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nothing wrong with this marae beautiful. It's the people who runs it to host a crowd not very good. I'm sure they musted of got funding for catering for the hikoi for a big crowd to find a desert spoonful of meat n veggie on a big plate not a very good look
