★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I was young we traveled down the Waihi Valley to Mass. I haven't been here for years - had the opportunity last Christmas but it seemed too far to go. But now it seems that Mass isn't going to be celebrated in Pongaroa in the future. Which is a shame because it was a lovely little church, especially after it was recarpetted and padded chairs replaced the hard wooden pews.
