★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clock dropped off early July 2019 for quote. Told it would be a couple of weeks. Quote rec'd Nov 2019. No update from Pilbrows in intervening 5 months. Go ahead given in Nov 2019 for restoration. No update by end of Feb 2020. When I phoned I was given endless excuses, no apology and no sense that they would do anything to try and move the job along. They need to work on their communication, be honest and upfront about timelines and expectations and it wouldn't hurt to take a long hard look at their beliefs around what constitutes good customer service. UPDATE: 20/3/20 Repaired and fully restored clock now received. Well packaged for transit and very nice restoration done. Still think Pilbrows could improve their communication, internal systems and customer experience but can't fault clock repair. Star rating amended accordingly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I haven’t actually commissioned them yet, but after I spoke with Rowan there just now, I will. The price estimate he provided on the phone was far cheaper than any other I’ve heard for the same work. He took a bunch of time to discuss my middling problems, brought about through my own absentminded stupidity, and engaged in a constructive and informative manner without condescension or frustration at having to explain the basics to a Luddite. I know he’s got bigger and more important things to do, but he took the time to make sure I was all good, and that’s worth five stars.
He’s gonna get my money whenever I need a watch fixed from now on - that’s how you do good business.
Update: Yep, they fixed it. My beautiful watch has been back on my wrist for months now, without a glitch. Pillbrow’s is excellent.
Update 2: It’s been a while, like 6 months or something… I can’t remember. My watch gets submerged in sea water daily, never gets manually wound (it’s a Citizen Promaster Automatic) and is still keeping time better than ever. Pillbrow’s workmanship has been absolutely tested in a very challenging environment and has proven worthy of a mariners primary timepiece.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In the pilbrows watchmakers in taupo I think thay are really cool too talk too and lan you are really good to talk to also and yours have really good clock that I or you liked but maybe the Ganfather clock is the better one for me. And a huge thank for the kind woman that ask me what happen to the cuckoo clock with the pendulum I think but when we are ready to put my cuock clock in to yours to get fixed and when I have save up my card money then I can her the cuckoo clock again. So thanks for it so much.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Once again Pilbrows are excellent, a pin fell out of my strap and they fixed it on the spot (luckily for me as they're normally busy) with no dramas. My only disappointment is they haven't opened a branch in my hometown of Hamilton yet (hint,hint), the only watch shop I 100% trust!
