★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love a good bookshop and Poppies is a very good bookshop. But every time I go in there, I never get spoken to. If I make a purchase the workers are always curt and there is no or little warmth. I realize that the store is in Havelock North, but is it necessary to be so pretentious? Always?
I would give more stars, but a great book shop is made great by having great staff. Poppies could learn a thing or two from Beattie and Forbes or Wardini Books.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic selection of books. Lots of interesting subject books that you probably won't see in all the other mainstream shops. It does seem to be primarily non-fiction, which is actually a nice change, but there is still good solid wall of fiction as well. And quite a bit of poetry!!
Good customer service as well. They were quite willing to have a quick chat about habits of eating after I purchased On Eating Meat from them.
