Poquito lies outside of the hustle and bustle of Courtney Place down the quieter side of Tory Street, breaking boundaries with craft cocktail service and eclectic whisky. We’re an atmospheric retreat for lunch with actual Kiwi hospitality, a salacious rendezvous with Caffeine and a spirit encyclopedia, all rolled into one. We are always in the lab creating new ingredients or researching old ones, but eschewing the stiffness of the classic cocktail bar in favour of relaxed, laid back service and effortless libations.
Our custom cocktail approach forswears any form of menu and employs conversation to design any drink for any moment in time. Our dynamic spirits selection is continually changing to reflect the best of the best of any different style. The whisky selection emphasises curated examples from important distilleries as opposed to the usual spread of generic age statements.Weekly live music from Wellington’s indie songwriting scene provides the perfect backdrop to meetings with friends or explorative nights out, and we encourage anyone with an instrument or an original to come on by and perform.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was looking for a filling, yummy, relatively healthy, reasonably priced, vegan breakfast. This gorgeous little cafe, with incredibly kind staff, were willing to accommodate me. Avo and toast with tomato, lemon, balsamic vinegar and the INCREDIBLY GOOD house-made hummus. My soy latte was large and delicious. Highly recommend this cafe.

Go sit in the back near the stage/window, such a lovely warm vibe created by the wallpaper, admire the bar wall. Big choice of Whiskey and Bourbons, I counted 97 different ones including some nice Japanese whiskeys. If you like Gin try the Monkey47. Also interesting original cocktails

Would recommend a whiskey flight. Haven't tried their food or other drinks though. And we couldn't stay too long due to a private event later at that location.

Extremely knowledgeable about their whiskies and their friendly service gives the poquito experience a cherry on top. If you are a whisky lover living in Wellington you have to check this place out. Deserves to be the best whisky bar in Wellington and top 3 in NZ.
