β β β β β This quaint bar is really a nice hidden spot. Great ambience and the infusion cocktails are wonderful. Tried the Salted Caramel dark rum and it was excellent! Will definitely come back.

β β β β β Merchant is a great little secret. The kind of place you'd never notice of you walked past it.
The vibes are nice and chill and the staff are good. But the infusions are what makes this place special. Can't go past the salted caramel rum which is ? (though I also like the Jalapeno one when I'm feeling brave enough). They have a few good food items for something to eat while you sample the drinks.

β β β β β Youβve got to look out for that door leading up to this upstairs bar. Low key, classic with a unique menu of house blended concoctions. Specializing in rum and gin. The gingerbread infused drinks are yummy. Friendly bar tender and wondrous backdrop of liqueur.

β β β β β SHOULD BE ZERO! In the most bizarre experience of my life, a bigoted staff member just refused my partner and I service due to intoxication. We are sober as judges, just came from a lovely dinner at Poquito (recommend). Assume we are too old? (40s) or too straight (hetero couple). Either way, absolutely despicable. We are visiting wellington for 2 nights, and had this place recommended. At Crumpet now, service is amazing. All other Welly experiences have been amazing. There is no place for this disgusting type of discrimination in NZ. AVOID.

β β β β β Truly a fantastic and well rounded bar - from the immeasurably talented staff, the totality of the theming, right through to the range of well thought out infusions. C.G.R. Merchant is well worth making a trip to if you can take the time to consciously discover the door.

β β β β β I donβt know what was going on with these guys. He was obviously unhappy that we were there. I am still not sure what was going on. I think we canβt have fit his desired demographic. Us a straight couple in our mid 40s. Really weird. Never ever seen this attitude before. Happy that we found another place to go. Love Wellington. Just not this place.
