★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden gem right at the very end of Harbour road, Ohope. A very large park area with mature trees, plenty of parking available on grass, and access to the beach (on the Ohiwa harbour side, not the ocean side). The swimming is good for little ones as it's on the harbour rather than the sea so there is no surf so they can splash without getting knocked over. There is good fishing and a ramp for launching boats and, of course, council maintained public toilets. Overnight parking is allowed for self-contained motor caravanners, and this is an excellent location for that.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spacious and free camping ground. And many people fishing here. And I saw the first sunrise in 2022 too. But I still saw some people with their dogs walking around even there is a clear no-dog sign
