★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They do the job, you can just drop in if you are passing, no appointment necessary. I didn't notice the opening times.
The situation is very convenient,by the river mouth and if the little ones get 'caught short' at the play area they can go there.

There are picnic tables (some with shade cloth over them, multiple electric barbecues which don't appear to cost anything to use, water fountain, a cordoned-off area for swimming in the river, a wet play area, and a playground. The playground has equipment for little ones and older kids as well as a slide dressed up as white island. It's also the last stop on local kiwi walk.
