Rachnas Jewellery and Fashionware originated from the Islands of Fiji and was founded by the late Mr Nanji Kanji in the 1920s. Mr Nanji had a vision of becoming a Goldsmith and to that capacity began a business venture hand crafting 22ct Gold Jewellery. The family business was then passed down to the next generation to the late Mr Samji Nanji. In 1987 the family migrated to Wellington and brought along the Gold business and was later accompanied with Indian fashion.

We are relocating from our Newtown store to 51 Queens Drive, Centre City Plaza, Lower Hutt. We will be officially trading there from 29th March 2021.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They have good selection of Indian clothes. They also have gold jewellery collection which is 22 carat gold. The price range for clothes and jewellery is very high but as there is very less options in Wellington Region, there is no other way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This shop is really lovely offering a large array of Indian dress clothes, saris, accessories, shoes, etc. I went here for a wedding dress and the shop owner was more then helpful. He spent a number of hours with me going through many different colours and variations of the style I was looking for. I was also very impressed that he took the time to speak to my partner on the phone to get more of an idea of what I was looking for. I did not realise that my partners family had already sent a dress from India with accessories. It was a bit of a surprise. Because of that, within two weeks I rang the owner and explained my situation to him. He stated that while I was not entitled to a refund (it was a $695 retailed dress that I purchased with a small head piece accessory for $410), he was more then happy to allow me a store credit but that I must come back to the store within a week and a half. I thought this was very fair. Due to unforeseen circumstances and having to leave the country shortly after this phone call, I was not able to return the dress until about 3 months later at which time the owner said I could extend my credit until the end of the year. I was shocked by his generosity and his understanding of my situation.
I do recommend shopping at Rachna if you are looking for stylish and elegant clothing. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bad customer service. The guy who served us lacks patience. He comes as pushy and un helpful. He needs to step back and let the customers make the decision and choice of attire. Secondly its overly priced. And He Changes words before and after Buying .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Happened in early 2019 in theri Newtown Shop. Took us on a ride. All I needed was a minor repair which needed very little gold. Said they will do the repair for about $60, but after the repair, I was served a bill of $238 with no explanation or no extra gold.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Please be aware of this shop i do not recommend buying anything from here, i wouldn't even give it a 1 star. The owner does not follow market price he insteads makes his own price which is double and triple than what it should be and does not disclose the fact that he makes his own price. when we found out the market rate and questioned him on his price he became very rude and defensive and said " it is my shop and i can sell jewellery at whatever rate i like" . We all so gave him a chain to fix and told us he has to send it to Auckland to have it fixed when in fact he sent it within the Wellington area. I wouldn't trust this person from a bar of soap

The owners are very well respected , very hardworking, helpful, kind and have good quality products. I definitely recommend this shop.
