Reception did not ask for any ID (not good at all, for the safety of the customers and yours, in case something happens). The place is filthy, and it looks like a place to crash for long term stayers.
The room in the morning was colder than outside, this is because the roommates turn the heater off being pretty noise to sleep with.
It could be ok, but for $35 NZD dollars a night, my dear, I’m surprised you’re still open!!!
In Christchurch and many other cities and villages around Nz you cover 1.5 night with that money.
So guys, considering the price and conditions, honestly! Just do yourself a favour and skip this place, or pay $20 more and get a proper room in a cheap hotel. ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice and tidy villa-style backpackers, with a homely atmosphere (not cold and sterile!) Clean, fresh sheets, unlimited internet, only 2 or 3 people per room. Great for working in the area and close to town - within a few minutes' walking distance. Really well managed with friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend!
