Kia ora koutou. Introducing myself as a teacher and part of the RΔroa whΔnau for the past 15 years makes me reflect on the students and families I have connected with over that time. Developing relationships with students is key for me and underpins the way I approach teaching and learning. Seeing people of all ages push themselves and stretch their comfort zones gives me real pleasure. It's often in the most challenging times when growth occurs and it gives me a sense of privilege and joy to be part of that learning. Challenging myself this year, I am undertaking additional study, so I can certainly relate to some of the stressors and challenges our tamariki feel! Personal passions of mine include reading, netball, decent coffee and spending time with friends and family, relaxing and connecting. β β β β β Without a doubt, this is the worst school in Wellington. I had a horrible experience at this school awhile back. Verbal abuse from teachers, teachers not letting you eat any food and more. They make the school seem oh-so-wonderful but trust me in reality, the goodness in hidden. When parents/others come to the school, everyone switches to being positive and kind, once they leave, BOOM! Back to cruel practices.
Unacceptable in 2021, never send any of your kids here.

The teachers are all friendly and helpful, the students all have a positive attitude and the class rooms are a great learning environment. I would definitely recommend this school to all students. Raroa has amazing opportunities, the list is endless!

β β β β β I love Raroa. There is so many learning experiences and opportunities and the staff is amazing! I never want to leave because it feels like I have been here for only 1 week time has flown as I have had fun. I definitely recommend it.

Electives was really fun and i really enjoyed doing the clay making.
The teachers here are lovely as well.
Overall, amazing.

β β β β β Raroa is an amazing school i have had a truly wonderful experience. I have made so many new friends. The teachers are great they have given me a really good learning experience. We always have time to go outside and have fresh air. DPE I think is really good for new life skills and preparing you for the real world.

β β β β β dont get me wrong, it's a good school with amazing opportunities, but sadly only for children who are talented, popular or sporty. from my experience, most teachers fully support and encourage the ones who are smart, talented and already have something they want to carry on after intermediate. they don't really focus on the less popular, boring, dumber kids who just want a chance to get out of their shell and need a push.

β β β β β An absolutely incredible school. My children flourished in the fun filled, learning focussed environment. The staff have an incredible gauge on adolescent learning and behaviour. The communication is next level and we feel so blessed.
