Car price plus driver was $20. Each additional passenger 5 or older was $2. Maybe not bad but I wish it were just per vehicle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Easy to access ferry, goes north every hour at 30 mins past each hour. Friendly staff, mostly used by local very friendly Maoris who all seem to know each other. Beautiful boat ride, $20 is worth the ride + views alone. To get a car + person across for that money is great value, would highly recommend going up west coast and via this ferry rather than using state highway.

Conductor will collect vehicle & passengers fare using eftpos when ferry starts journey. Either stay in car/van or enjoy majestic view on passenger deck. Enjoy slow & lovely view as it ferries across the river.
