★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best things about food memories is when you are completely caught off guard and blown away unexpectedly by amazing food, and this was the Red Poppy for me.
A humble place on Stanmore Road, let's be honest, you're not expecting much, but boy was I wrong!
Crispy Pork Spring Rolls and BBQ beef Rolls with pickles and radish were our delightful starters and delightful they were!
Massaman Lamb and the Hor Mok (steamed fish) were our mains and they tasted outstanding. You could tell this food was cooked with love and plated with love and the taste was sublime.
We have found the best Thai food experience in Christchurch.
Life is good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super quiet yet they still managed to send one of our meals to the only other table in the restaurant. Came back 3 times to try and clear plates while we were only halfway through the meals... really odd. Food was nice, but expensive for the amount of protein served.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was okay, I had the Money bags which were big but all pork meat no beans and corn inside like other restaurants usually put in money bags, still nice though I think one wasn't cooked through properly, I also had the Tom yum chicken I thought the portion was quite small, and the chicken was a bit tough or chewy not soft and easily chewed. Probably better to use chicken breast instead of thigh. But I really loved the flavour of the Tom yum soup base it was mild but still had some flavour and zest to it... I couldn't bring up any issues as I had to leave because I had a toothache.. not because of the food. Thanks though
