★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So much variety. Tight single track through the bush. Some excellent clearing for views. Then ultimately the trig for views as far as the coast near Castlepoint and all the way back to the Tararua Range.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great walk and markings up Mount Clyde. Not so good on the other side. Have also noticed this when doing the smaller loops. A lot of the markings are hard to find, and your not sure if you are on the right track or going the right way.

The car park is not suitable for long vehicles though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great place to see some very old Totara, Hinau, Matai, and Rewarewa trees. There are 5 different tracks, all are a nice length 1-2hrs, plenty of bird life and great views from the top. Well worth several visits.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the Blue walk, it was quite an up hill climb to start, which is quite difficult if like me you’ve not exercised much working from home the last two years ? but it’s worth it. The toilet at the start was clean and flushable and didn’t smell, perfect if you forgot to go before leaving home! (Tissue is supplied) the views at the top are spectacular, we were the only people on the walk. You could see the ocean and the ranges all the way down to the south coast. Take water and a picnic/ food and enjoy the views at the very top, before walking down. If it’s been raining take some gum boots to change into at the bottom of the hill as it’s VERY muddy ! Can’t wait to explore more
