Called reception today and recieved an unhelpful and terse response. Unfriendly from the second I asked how her day was going. I enquired about getting a covid test done for travel requirements. She asked for my details and if I had been to the practice before, to which I gave them to her and she then told me that I have never visited the practice before. I told her she was wrong. ( I have been visiting since I was a toddler up until my early twenties). I advised her that I would have also been removed from their current register as I have been living overseas for quite some time yet besides the point I should still have been on the books and I visited as a casual only 2 weeks ago! But to tell me that I have never visited before was incorrect and condescending. Furthermore, she then told me that the practice doesn't do Covid19 travel tests, yet when I visited 2 weeks prior the doctor specifically told me that they can do it for me. Reception told me I was wrong yet again, however I'm only telling her what I was told. She then changed her mind and all of sudden after being on hold for a minute or two the practice now does these tests. I left it at that and will get my test done elsewhere. Nor will i re register with the practice again. I will not mention a name but I can see from previous reviews others have had similar experiences here.

Always had great service by my own Dr Zarifeh and the receptionists and nurses. Even when my little one was sick and they had to call an ambulance they kept us in the nurses room and took care of us. They always try to fit us in with another Dr when they can and are very accommodating. Denise at reception has always been very friendly and helpful when we joined. I'm guessing its the not easiest job when you have sick and worried patients calling for appointments and cant get in. I can understand when people get frustrated. but to be fair at my Dr's in the UK we had to wait minimum a week for an appointment, usually more.

I normally don't write reviews but I thought it would be the easiest way to express my gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the clinic whose reputation seems to be suffering thanks to a particularly cantankerous receptionist. My GP referred me Riccarton Medical Practice to sort out an ongoing medical issue after an initial referral to a specialist was unsuccessful and expensive. The nurses and doctors at Riccarton went out of their way to accomodate my busy schedule and all at a reasonable price. Friendly, caring, professional, accommodating....its all been said below. They deserve all those glowing descriptions. That being said, the infamous receptionist I talked to a few times is really letting down the team which is quite unfortunate given that this is the first point of contact with existing and new patients. Often patients, like any client/customer, are trying to get an understanding of methodology, lead times and associated costs of a service. If she is not prepared to patiently listen to questions [without interrupting] and answer in a clear concise manner then maybe she should look at more fulfilling opportunities outside of customer service.

This place has the best nurse I've ever had. Annoyingly I can't remember her name, but she sounded like she was from maybe the Ukraine? She was just lovely. In fact, all the nurses I've ever had at Riccarton Medical Practice have been especially great and so very friendly.

I absolutely love the doctors and nurses at this practice Iโ€™ve been seeing the wonderful Dr Zarifeh (David) for as long as I can remember but I am not great at looking after myself and donโ€™t make regular appointments. The receptionists make it considerably harder to come in. I actively avoid trying to go to the practice as every single time Iโ€™ve called Iโ€™ve been met by a cold reception. I have had an issues that can be taken care of quite easily over the phone but have actually been judged by reception (lost a acc referral form). I wish I could give a 5 star review but Iโ€™m sad to say that one or two of the staff really make a difference.

Iโ€™ve been a member at this practice for many years. Every time I call for an appointment or go in the receptionists are rude and short as if being a patient wanting to see a doctor is a massive inconvenience to them. I can deal with that. But the final straw was when I went to get a covid test for my boss, only to find out that they are trying to charge me $190 dollars for a covid testโ€ฆ. I thought that was a little excessive. So I went somewhere else and got it for free. My doctor was good at what he does and I dealt with some awesome nurses there, but the combination of rude receptionists and charging loyal patients excessive amounts for covid tests (which are free at many other places) was enough to make me change practices.

Dr Abby Zarifeh was recommended to me, and as a newcomer to Christchurch I was happy to find such a personable and friendly doctor. She has been great with me and my daughter. The nurses have also been great, and we have not had any unpleasant experiences whatsoever.

The receptionist is awful - that's putting it very nicely. Then there's the so called doctors - if I listened to their advice on an ankle injury I'd still be laying in bed waiting on a follow up call. After advice from someone who actually cares - I visited a physio who immediately diagnosed and treated my injury. I've lost all faith in general practitioners after being a patient at this practice. I've always been far worse off after visiting. How is that possible? The receptionist should look for a new position inside an active volcano as they will be less miserable there.
