★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt im River Retreat! Ruhige Lage in der Natur. Wunderschön liebevoll eingerichtetes Gäste-Appartement mit Büchern, DVDs, Kamin, Küche, WLAN und leckerem Frühstück. Das Schlafzimmer ist mit einem Fensterstreifen in der Decke und einer Glasfront versehen. Somit ist der Raum sehr hell und man kann bei Tag und Nacht den Himmel beobachten. Ich kann diese Unterkunft nur empfehlen!
 We had a great stay at the River Retreat! Quiet location in nature. Beautifully decorated guest apartment with books, DVDs, fireplace, kitchen, Wi-Fi and delicious breakfast. The bedroom has a window strip in the ceiling and a glass front. Thus, the room is very bright and you can watch the sky day and night. I can only recommend this accommodation!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I highly recommend this place for your stay. Margie and Allan are wonderful friendly hosts. The accommodation is a free standing granny flat that has all the bells and whistles with a fully equipped kitchen. Margie also has plenty of food ready for you, including her world famous muesli.
The flat is set on a beautiful peaceful location with a river down the back. Even some cows, sheep, and a horse to talk to. It was absolute medicine for my soul staying here. And close to some lovely diners and a tavern (must try the hamburger there, its yummy and huge!) with great home cooking.
I did all the touristy things on the south Island of NZ, but a highlight was just chilling at River Retreat with Margie and Allan (they even did our laundry for us, bless their hearts).
I could stay here forever!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful Host (Margie & Allan), we arrived on 19Nov2019 around 5pm. A fresh baked loaf of bread was well prepared in room. Fresh milk too. The next morning, Allan give us a tour to his farm. Very children friendly. Clean & tidy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A jewel in this region. Two room facility in the country site surrounded by farms and animals. The hosts Margie and Alan were very hospitable and the bed slept very well. We were supplied with breakfast of fresh eggs, bread, milk, different cerials and home made jams. Really a great place to stay. Highly recommendable.
