★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I fished with Ayato Otsubo a few years ago and he was great. Terrific instructor on techniques unique to the Mataura River near Queenstown. Patient and encouraging. Caught good size and number of trout.
Ayato did something truly kind for us. He knew I was flying out of the country the next day, so after the day of fishing, he dropped me off at dinner with my family in Queenstown, took my waders to his home, cleaned and dried them and brought them back to our hotel. He left them for me ready to pack. He also left a small cake for my wife as I had mentioned how wonderful she was to allow me to fish on her birthday in NZ.
Top notch guide and great individual. Highly recommend.
