Beautiful garden to walk around and sit in to enjoy. For a better view you can go onto the balcony of the nearby conservatory and see a lot better. A sundial in the center is popular for people taking selfies. There is a metal rose sculpture just before one of the four entrances which looks great.

The Rose Garden is such a beautiful garden full of beautifully bloomed roses and everything there is very well maintained. Best time to go is spring and summer because of the sunshine and the flowers are in full bloom. There are a lot of locals, kiwis from around the country and international tourists who come here to see the roses. So its really great to see other people enjoying their stroll through as well as capturing pictures to appreciate the memories they've made here.

As a local I didn't think it was all that until I couldn't drag my friends who were visiting from other New Zealand cities out of the garden!

We visited last week (Early December) and were amazed by all the beautiful roses.

The main rose garden of the Botanic Gardens, this area is beautiful even now in late April when it’s too late for the main flush of flowers. The big rose sculpture is just outside the east entrance to the garden, and you’ll find lots of dahlias on the outer border around there too. Unfortunately, the sundial that used to be here is now missing, leaving a bare pedestal in its place. Tip: if you love rose gardens, also check out the Heritage Rose Garden on the other side of the Avon River!
