★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Disappointing visit today. Seems to be a lot of young staff around, but the woman who appeared to be the manager seemed very out of her depth. Was rude to myself and another customer after me. Busy packing away the food, and refusing to let us order most things, even though most of it was still in the cabinet and they didn't close for 45 minutes. Totally not interested in providing any friendly service whatsoever. Also wearing a mask around her chin the whole time, whilst breathing all over the food she was packing. Did not offer any disposable cutlery for our food, which we ordered to take out because they seemed so keen to be done with us. Came and told us outside 4 times in 20 minutes that they were closing. Avoid if they are closing in the next hour or so as they can't be bothered. Not in a hurry to go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful spot on a sunny day with lots of outdoor seating and sun shades.
We came for lunch and found excellent vegetarian options and the all important fries are delish! Has an excellent salad selection too. Friendly and helpful staff and great service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this cafe, staff are exceptional friendly and helpful even when very busy. Just a wee grizzle tho which was the almond croissant I ordered. I was asked if I would like grilled. That sounded like a great idea as who doesn’t love a crisp croissant . But unfortunately when it was delivered to the table it obviously been microwaved as it was just a soggy hot mess. I feel almost embarrassed mentioning this but that could be so easily remedied. First world problem it is, but sorry!

Eloise and Marzena are absolutely amazing!
Throughout our planning process Eloise was wonderful to deal with, she made sure every box was checked and double checked off.
Marzena was in charge of the food and beverage service on the day and everything ran perfectly. The service team was amazing as well, right down to Debrane (name probably spelt wrong) helping find a guest that went to the wrong gate to leave at the end of the night and helping us we a trolley to get the last of the decor out to cars.
The Food, Jonny the Chef, curated a menu just for us that fit what we were looking for and then he exceeded expectations at delivery. Everything was perfect, people have raved about it for weeks.
The Venue space it’s self is stunningly beautiful and with the team they have anyone getting married should strongly consider Ilex as a venue option,

Went here today to have lunch.
Ordered food and drinks and asked staff if they can clean the table as that one was the only one available that time. The staff said everyone is quite busy at the moment but she will tell other staff to clean it soon. Waited for 15 mins and staff brought my drink but she did not even clean the table just left a drink on the table and went away. Staff brought my mum's drink and she just went away again. It was very disgusting that they expect us to have drinks on the table like this as the photo. We sat on the table like that for about an hour while having our drinks
Needed to ask three times to clean the table. Someone came and cleaned after we finished our drinks.

Lovely place in the botanical gardens. It looks very busy. White and green theme, interior is spacious and clean.
They have outdoor seating as well.
You order from the counter. Wanted some waffle so I ordered the black forest waffle.
The waffle took a while to arrive. But when it did it was a sight to behold. Took some photos and then ate it. Very lovely crispy and nice pairing with the ice cream, boysenberry and milk caramel.
The thing is I ordered the Black Forest one and I didn’t realise it wasn’t that until my friend pointed it out that it wasn’t what I ordered.
It was a waffle from the kids menu. Not sure what went wrong there but I really enjoyed my waffle from the kid’s menu.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible experience. Over-extracted coffee, tasteless overpriced food, that takes FOREVER to arrive.
I ordered an iced latte and it hadn’t arrived 40 minutes after ordering, so I went up to the counter and it was sitting there because they “couldn’t see my number”, when everyone else on my table received their food and drinks from that number, theirs also taking over 30 mins.
The orange juice didn’t taste good at all. Very few vegan options. Can’t recommend
