★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was my first time experience in Sahana Resturant with my family during our Auckland family trip. As a south Indian, it is very hard to get the authentic south Indian taste in New Zealand. That was our thinking till I visited there. But the tasty food and their homely atmosphere really made us happy. We have tried 5-6 variety of items and everything was excellent. I will give 5 out of 5 Rating for food and hospitality.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I ordered the butter chicken and took them a long time and at the end, the portion was pretty small and it didn't taste great.I could see other tables ordered better than me and the portions were more generous... The service was nice but we brought our wine and they charged us 7 dollars per person. So, we paid 21 dollars for our own bottle of wine. It was written at the menu but we didn't pay attention.
I don't think we are going to try again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ These guys are TOP NOTCH. We went there nine times during our month-long working holiday in Auckland over January/February this year and had a different DELICIOUS meal every single time. Don't know why more people didn't go there, it was nearly deserted every time we went. Excellent service too. Definitely a hidden gem worth trying out!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We are regulars at Sahana for their weekend brunch buffet. The ambience, setting and soothing background instrumental music creates a enjoyable dining experience. The place is always neat and tidy.
My food experience today was no different from the one I've had on any other visit, in one word - sublime. They make the best vadaa and poori bhaji I've had in Auckland, just terrific. The sambar and chutneys are great complements to the lovely food and provide that added flavour/zing. The dosa was also a great offering. The piping hot coffee served in a traditional copper tumbler and cup is a fine touch and the payasam certainly deserves a special mention. It always satiates our craving for authentic South Indian food that we so dearly miss!
My overall experience in Sahana is worthy of a 5-star rating without having to think about it. We keep going back for the lip-smacking food and the smiling faces of the restaurant staff, specifically Sasi and Gautham, their service is incomparable and one of the best we've received in Auckland, steeped in the strong foundations of a terrific food service offering - tasty food combined with outstanding service.
Well done guys, keep it up!
