We first dined last night at this Place and we have high hopes of a great evening. The selection was great with some dishes or sets that you dont usually see on Auckland Japanese themed restaurants. Like the Nigiri Set and the bento style variety set. The beef and tuna tataki were great. However we were completely let down with our order of beef Udon took 45mins to arrive and the amount of serving was only generous enough for a 5 year old, it was less than half of a bowl and tablespoon amount of beef. Also was charged for an extra glass of beer that wasn't served. So check what you pay for on the counter. Not coming back sorry. Good Luck.

Authentic Japanese izakaya! I love this place as they have varieties of menu and also good ranges of sake. It would have been really good if it was a little bit darker as its quite bright for the night to have drink. Loved every dishes I had and really recommend! This will be my favourite place in Albany!

Can't really fault anything. Good food, came out really fast, service was really good. If the place gets any busier, they'll need another waiter. About 25pp. Well worth it, seems really popular for date nights. Definitely will be back.

We had an absolutely delicious lunch. I ordered “roasted chicken set”. It was quality and delicious. The presentation and taste of the food were both top notch. I’m leaving to Sydney but when I visit in Auckland I will definitely come back again.

Hidden treasure. Even seemingly simple food tastes amazing and so full of flavour. Highly recommend you visit if you want truly good sushi.

Amazing food and service. Sakaba have authentic Japanese food in one hand and in another very creative dishes, like the wing gyozas and the monaka sushi. Sakaba is a hiding treasure in North Shore that deserve to be known by everyone who loves Japanese food.

I am so happy that we discovered this new Japanese restaurant!! The place has only been opened for about 6 months or so, but if they keep up with this quality, service and originality they will be here for a long time! The place looks classy, tidy and clean, the menu has an amazing balance between traditional japanese dishes and some western inspired japanese dishes, i was very surprised to see this. This time we tried the: *Horenso* (A spinach salad with an AMAZING sweetish but just enough sauce made out of peanut and sesame i think) Yasai Tempura (which it looked like it was gonna be greasy but was perfect ?) *SAKABA wing gyoza* (They were two delicious boneless chicken wings stuffed with gyoza filling covered in a sauce that i guessed was teriyaki, great chefs skill to do this!!) *Kai No Saka Mushi* (Japanese Sake steamed clams, i haven't eaten many clams so i have not objective way of comparing this one to others but here i go, the flavour was so fresh, full of umami but no fishy flavour at all, i was going to drink the broth as well but i made the mistake of squeezing some lemon on it and i ruined it for my taste) *Monaka Suhi* (This is a bed of rice on a waffle shell, topped up with assorted raw fish, so i added some soy sauce, put the second waffle shell on top and eat it as a sandwich, I'm not sure if it is intended to be eaten this way but i made sense and was delicious!) I wanted to order Uni Maguro Parfait, unfortunately they didn't have any uni (Kina), they offered me to swap it for salmon but i was really craving uni so i will give it a go next time. For the desserts (and this is the best part! As most japanese restaurants really lack on good dessert options) we had: *Kurogoma Brulee* (Black sesame creme brulee, the sugar caramel layer was britle and crunchy as its supposed to be with the exact amount of bitterness from the caramelization, the creme base was cold as its suppose to be, the flavour was fantastic with no overpowering sesame flavour, although i could do with a little bit more, and maybe a firmer consistency, but the flavour was amazing anyways) *Mineoka Tofu*: (They are like a very soft and milky version of mochi, covered in some nuts powder with a side of black sugar syrup to dip them in, such an enjoyable texture from the moment you pick it up till the end). Next time i want to try the japanese wagyu they serve as it looks very tasty! The staff was super friendly and helpful, will be back!
