β β β β β I love Sake Bar Nippon - it gives pretty authentic Izakaya vibes and food selection. Some of the food is really good, others are just average.
Like, the Tuna today was pretty βwateryβ I guess you could say, weird texture and lack of flavour. The prawns were also clearly frozen prawns and also lacked a little flavour.
But Iβve been here many times and find that generally the food is pretty good, reasonably priced and they have a great atmosphere. I do recommend coming here for a casual dinner with a group of friends.

β β β β β Enjoyed our dinner here tonight. Sushi platter was good value as was egg fried rice. Grilled salmon was also very good. Service was efficient and entertaining.

β β β β β We visited Sake Bar Nippon on Mother's Day so, as you can imagine, they were pretty busy! Thankfully we booked so we had a table ready and waiting when we arrived.
The staff were friendly and not overbearing. They checked in from time to time but mostly left us to enjoy our food. Which we absolutely did!
We'd never heard of Sake Bar Nippon, having frequented various other Japanese restaurants in Auckland, so it was a surprise to find such a great restaurant in a relatively unassuming location.
The food here is excellent. The sushi was good, but the takoyaki was heavenly, the best we've had in NZ. The karaage chicken was also delicious, super crispy but also juicy - too many places get this wrong.
To top it all off, the bill really wasn't too bad. We'll definitely be back!

β β β β β The whole "shoes off" policy is unhygienic and really annoying.
It also appears Sake Bar and staff are more concerned about the wearing of shoes on or around their grubby seats and "dramatic drums" on entry than correct seating, customer service, food consistency, basic spelling on menus and bad music.
My chicken katsu was soggy, and my friends steak was 15 mins late whilst everyone else is half way through their meals.
Several dishes weren't delivered which we had ordered so best be vigilant when it comes to paying, which was a complex drama in itself.

I enjoyed the atmosphere heaps! The music selection, the Taiko drum, the staff yelling γγγγγγΎγ! Making me feel like I'm exactly in one of the Izakaya in Japan β€οΈ
Love it!
Chefs were performing their magic at the open working station. Only by seeing that you knew there's nothing to worry about in terms of the food.
I love everything I had last night, I praise their service quality, 100% will be back again.
