★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For the first time I ordered a Brooklyn flavoured takeaway pizza known as half New York size while Trixie Vosseler the support worker and the driver waited in the parked car outside the pizzeria. There is where the bar used to be the original Captain Cook Hotel and Tavern about 20 years ago when I was a student then.i had lunch tasted so delicious and yummy in the Central Countdown supermarket car park before catching the bus home from Dunedin Central bus hub.

I love the fact it's served on paper plates too that makes it feel really authentic.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always wanted to try Sal's and just had the opportunity in Dunedin.
Unfortunately it was disappointing. Garlic Knotts were flavorless lumps of dough, and the pizza was literally dripping with grease.
Also the girl serving us on Sunday night was pretty rude and practically chucked our order at us...wouldn't go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The pizza here was good, however, the reason for only 3 stars was due to the state of the hand basins in the toilets. I’m not sure if they have ever been cleaned. It’s a bit off putting being a restaurant.
The food was served on paper plates with no cutlery. There were several options for seasoning at each table which was a nice addition.
The staff were friendly enough so no complaints there.
I would recommend this place but probably avoid the toilets if possible.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The authentic New York pizza in Dunedin. Tasty and crispy. Will try other flavours. I like they have parmesan cheese, dry herbs and chili flakes on the table ? help yourself to enjoy them. Not a cheap price but worth if you can use a promotion. Good service and nice place.
