About Us
At Secret Garden ELC we pride ourselves in building great foundations for our children to become independent and confident lifelong learners, in a safe, loving and nurturing environment for children to grow and flourish. The first years of a child’s development is where they form most of their lifelong habits, and we will provide opportunities and experiences for emotional, physical, intellectual and social development. We will help your child to form great values, respect, love and care for others, as well as providing an educationally focused program that will have your child well prepared for primary school and beyond both socially and academically.
We are licensed by the Ministry of Education for 50 children, 10 under two’s and 40 over two’s and are open between the hours of 7.30 – 5.30.
Secret Garden ELC is a multicultural centre where we embrace all the different cultures and incorporate family beliefs and culture into each child’s day. We are able to ensure that every child feels accepted and at home.
Secret Garden ELC stands apart with our huge natural outdoor area of over 800m2, with plenty of mature trees, space to ride bikes and kick a ball. Our outside area is utilized as an extension of our inside classroom.
We provide 3 Meals a day, plus breakfast and for these children here very early in the morning, and, a late snack for those children staying late. All our meals are prepared and cooked on site, to the NZ Heart Foundation Standard.
We are very proud to have recently been awarded a gold healthy heart award from the NZ Heart Foundation for providing healthy meals and promoting healthy lifestyles for our children and their families.
Secret Garden ELC is a family friendly centre with an open door policy, and we welcome family participation, you are welcome to visit at any time and join the team in our daily activities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I recommend this day care. It has a great out door area for kids to run around or bike. The baby room and pre-school room are connected and they share time and learning together. This was awesome as I had children in each room so they settled in really well. They also have a maximum of 10 babies and 40 pre-schoolers.The centre is clean and tidy. They change their toys and environment around often for the children to experience new activities and things. The teachers are highly qualified and do lots of activities with the children including going on trips and out to explore the community.The teachers are very friendly and have made our family a part of the centre. My sons love and loved going to daycare. They have an awesome cook who makes yummy healthy meals which takes the hassle of sorting lunch boxes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Secret Garden is the only place I would 200% trust for my bub. Leaving my 6th month old to resume work was a predicament for me. I went around other ECE's in the area but wasn't very convinced. However, went to SG and signed up straight away. The staff are unbelievably natural with kids and work along side parents for best outcomes for your child. The teachers are so forthcoming and they almost hand- held me through the period where my baby did not take the bottle. It is a free range environment that encourages kids to be kids, with no screens in sight. There is a massive play area that houses pet rabbits etc. They make you feel at home. I truly recommend Secret Garden for any parent, facing that difficult decision of leaving your precious one in a new environment.
