β β β β β Disappointing. Needed help from them shortly after taking my newborn baby & escaping an abusive long term relationship. Referred to Shakti by one of the police officers who truly worried for us. The person at Shakti said they couldn't help as everyone was busy in training and that I would have to figure out a way myself. It's a few years later and my child and I are thriving, I sure as the sun shines found my strength but every time someone says a vulnerable Indian woman should contact Shakti, I tell them no and to get in touch with MΔori & Pasifika organizations because they actually care about all people, and that Shakti will only let them down when they need them the most. Indian woman are not a priority for them and people cannot assume we are going to get their help just because they gave themselves the name Shakti.
