★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This would have been the second time I met my family at Shanis to have dinner for my birthday. The first experience was overall amazing the food and everything, although this time around wasn't soo much.
As soon as we walked into Shanis no one was there to greet us and when we finally did get greeted the young lady had no expression on her face not even a simple smile.
It was really loud too.
The same lady took our order and I have 2 65 year old parents, she stood at one end of the table and had us all reaching over yelling to order our food. I've worked in many hospitality businesses and felt like they werent even trying to make sure we were comfortable, except for one young girl who really went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after.
I ordered the pork belly on roasted pumpkin mash and it was just overpowered with what tasted like cinnamon or nutmeg.
$18 for a kids macaroni and cheese that looked like they just poured sauce over n added bacon in it.
We also waited well over an hour for our food to be delivered to our table.
The food was OK but the price they charge for it didn't match in my opinion.
I would go again just not any time soon after my recent experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very reasonable and tasty food. Steak was done to perfection and garlic bread and fries were awesome. Chorizos were yummy as well. My son loved the garlic bread. Ribs were good. My husband loved his Long Island tea… Friendly staff and lovely ambience. Must visit place if you’re in Napier

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We opted to have our meals takeaways. What fabulous dishes they were. Beautifully packed in compostable containers. The food was so much and so delicious we managed to have plenty left over for the next night.
Thoroughly recommend Shani's.
The bottle store next door is handy if you're going straight home like we were.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service was great, very efficient and friendly. Food was just what we wanted, the ribs are always amazing! Only negative really was the brownie kids dessert tasted like cardboard. I assume it is just out of a box. My brownie loving child wouldn't eat it.
