★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My Husband and I became a patient at Shirley Medical a year ago and have had nothing but problems since the move, both of us our prescriptions which are repeats have been wrong every time we go, then we have to go back to the Dr to get the stuff up re done, the time it has cost us to go back, then pay again at the pharmacy for the top up, and the fax that the medical has sent to the pharmacy. my fist appointment was less than 5 mins and wanted to give me all of the drugs that I had been on again, waiting time one appointment was over and hour, getting blood results back - they never rang , i would keep ringing and then not get an answer until i complained and then the Dr called me but hadn't read up on my notes and was telling me about things that should happen BUT i had a hysterectomy 5 years before.
I wouldn't even give them a star for any of the service that we have had. Since then I have moved Dr's and today my husband will be too as his last appointment yesterday nothing of the above has changed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have been a client since childhood and my doctor is has always been a caring fellow. Most of the staff are a delight but I have noticed that ever since the Palms went in and gourmet muffins became an accessible item, while the centre was renovated and the paint went from Clinical white to albatross alabaster some folk now behave as if Shirley is some Kind of nouveau Fendalton in the Christchurch Orient. This is certainly the perception I got from the stuck up receptionist whom I dealt with yesterday while trying to book an appointment. Well, she did me the favour of keeping my pockets full that day but my doc will be pissed that I blew most of it on a nice fat bucket of K Fry. That asides, it has been a great clinic and Doc McGin, not my normal Doc, is like your Stephen Donald of Docs. A.k.a Mr Fix it. Top team minus the Sour Senorita who maybe was having a turd of a day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Used to be a patient here before I moved. Great doctors. Returned not long ago and wanted to sign up to the practice again. Not impressed with the reception staff attitude. Sorry for daring to ask a simple question. Won’t be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In my opinion, the service you receive all comes down to the doctor, their knowledge and your rapport with them (i.e. YMMV). I would like to recommend Dr Petra Heutink. She has an excellent manner, listens attentively and explains things clearly and thoroughly. She is a credit to her profession.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DISGUSTING ATTITUDE from the receptionist answering the phone. I never normally complain but after 4mins on hold she answered without even a hello. When I asked about enrollment she rattles off a whole lot of names and fees which mean nothing to me and then says "shall I book you in then!?" As in hurry up.. When I asked her to repeat one thing she said she snapped that she had already explained that. My word, I would never go anywhere that had people out the front treating patients or potential clients like that.. Just wow. Maybe working with customers just isn't what the doctor ordered for you.
