★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hard walk uphill, but worth it for the views. Half an hour each way. Track a bit tricky in places.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The walk is well worth it, amazing views. Expect it to take a couple of hours, it gets steep at the top.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hell of a walk up the hill! But worth it for the view at the top. However, come prepared with good shoes and an ability to scale steep terrain, and then clamber back down again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was an amazing hike with great 360 views at the top. Could see snow capped mountains, rolling green hills, pine forests, and the ocean. Last 100m or so of the hike is pretty steep, make sure to bring good hiking shoes that you dont mind stepping in Cow/Sheep poo! Perfect day, great weather, and strong winds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not for your average couch potato, although I kinda fit that description (one thing that does fit). Take your time, avoid the hottest part of the day and despite its steepness, stick to the track. The views are SPECTACULAR!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We started at stile beside the sign for Puketapu Summit and 'Puketapu Walking Track' opposite the lookout carpark at the end of Stour St.
It was not clear where we should walk after we reached the top of the line of pine trees. We were among three groups that headed straight up and found ourselves in knee high thistles and navigating matagouri while climbing hand over hand up boulders.
After studying Google maps satellite view now, i see that there might be a track that spirals down from the summit and meets the farm track beyond the point where we turned off and headed straight up.
There needs to be some track markers to indicate this.
Great views. Take plenty of water.
