Smith & McKenzie Steak House - Chartwell

Now if you want an awesome dining experience then S&M is the place to go. Ambiance and awesome food is what you can expect even though the price might be slightly more than other restaurants. A must do no matter what!!! Keep it up guys ???

The chicken I had wasn't that nice, a bit dry but the steaks apparently were really yummy. All the other dishes we had (dumplings, share platter, sides like onion rings and mushroom, kids meals) were yummy too and good size portions.

Just outstanding food, and the venue is lovely, I just need it to move to Auckland so it can be my regular.

Loved the pate starter,ample toast bites to spread it over. Loved the cold pint, and the pino Gris was nector in a bottle.

My Favourite restaurant! The waitress that we had was absolutely amazing, she was serving multiple tables (food, drinks) going back and forth and held a friendly manner and a smile while doing so. Recommended a beautiful red wine that complemented my meal. Food was fast and delicious! Absolutely amazing environment and service, I highly recommend.

All right, here I go.. Walked into the welcoming friendly atmosphere of Smith & Mc Kenzies at Chartwell Hamilton. The vibe is awesome. This is definitely, one of the best Steak eateries establishments I have been too. They also have the non steak menu if you want?. Side dishes to choose from, so I had seasonal greens, broccoli ? and cauliflower ? Yummo. Your pick of sauce/sauces to accompany your meat main. Starter for me was the smoked fish and mussel chowder which had a lightly toasted bread and on the side a wedge of lemon. Now get this, I squeezed some lemon onto a portion of the chowder and guess what? Phenomenal to my taste buds. My daughter cannot wait to come try it. Also as a starter had the chicken cabbage dumplings ×3. My thing man. Sitting in soya sauce garnished with crisp slices of heaven.? Waiting staff totally awesome and ensuring my comforts were met, they rock. Attentive, friendly and so restful. As I dined alone, I had a very special table away from the many patrons, yet still able to enjoy the ambience of it all. Chat with other dinners, you know what I'm talking about.. The happy families, the friends dinning together after work, the group function up stairs, the all. Of cause I was on me phone spreading the word and totally looking like that one that has to take pictures of everything. Not sharing all on here. Rib eye steak, medium rare, with roasted garlic sauce which I let the chef suprise me with, was a great decision. Wow. Must try the mushroom sauce next time but have it on mashed potatoes as well. Alas, I had no room for dessert but the magaritas also the cranberry juice was enough for me. Why the five stars? Literally best recommendation ever. Thank you my friend. You know who you are?. Lastly.. there is a bell at reception to give the chef a shout out and a gratuity for the amazing work done behind the scenes so we enjoy our meal, our time and the deliciousness of it all. Ring that bell next your there. Worth it and totally amazing...

I came here with my family on Friday. We had a lot of steaks with different cuts: t bone, sirloin, scotch fillet. And we also ordered not steak dishes: duck pappardelle and pork ribs. All and all, the steaks were just ok. I thought the best cooked was the scotch fillet because it came medium rare. The other two steaks were closer to medium or medium done, which weren’t great to be enjoyed. I absolutely love the bake loaf starter though and the pork ribs weren’t half bad. Giving this place a three star because it’s a steakhouse and for a steakhouse, their steak should be perfect.
