We are in the business of creating great wines that bring great pleasure. As contemporary negociants Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth seek out the exceptional. Hand selecting the best grapes from the finest vineyards. Establishing steadfast relationships with the land, growers and makers who form the DNA of our CRU. The French call it "terroir" – a sense of place. In New Zealand we have our own defining word - TΕ«rangawaewae - our place to stand in the world. This word describes the special connection of a people and the land they live, love and work in. Our wines reflect the magic and alchemy of this relationship and the true beauty of these places. β β β β β Love this cellar door by day, wine bar by evening. We had a lovely experience with the knowledgeable sommelier and it was a nice touch to have a seated tasting rather than across a counter. Will return to enjoy the wine lounge and music soon.

Now the tour of the lower and central North Island (Te Ika a Maui), is coming to a close in the Hawkes Bay area, I couldn't pass up a wine and dine session at Smith & Sheth. Now the cellar room has different hours to the wine room... dont let this get in the way of a good time tasting and drinking the region's finest. Plus the meals are great, hence the picture of platter empty.... anyway great staff that know the history of the wines.. with great sense of humour. Holy heck now for an update book yourselves in for the experience that will blow your minds, go for the Heretaunga wine tasting! We did and we got Mike as a wine tasting guru it was very educational, tasty, and most of all fun experience. The best experience in wine tasting.
