★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sheldon was fantastic to deal with. Very easy. I organised the hunt as a surprise gift. Sheldon communicated well in the lead-up and worked in with our dates. I was confident my husband was in for a great day and a nice challenge. I had just one request - he wanted a deer!... Sheldon & Angus delivered... Needless to say husband came back grinning ear to ear with his first deer and fresh venison for the BBQ. Big thank you to Sheldon and Angus. He'll be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Anybody looking for not only a great hunt, but a full blown adventure of a lifetime needs to give Southern Hunting Adventures and outfitter Sheldon a call! Being an outfitter from Montana myself it would have been easy to be critical of anything that wasn't up to par........not here though.....all aspects of this outfitter and his operation were above what I expected on my Tahr and Chamois hunt! If you are looking to hunt the South Island of New Zealand this is the place and Sheldon is your man!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As an American visiting New Zealand and looking to organize a bit of rifle hunting for red stag - I couldn't be any happier with Southern Hunting Adventures than I am. Sheldon communicated well, was extremely helpful in sorting trip details, and set me up on a great hunt for free-ranging stags on a spot-and-stalk trip on the South Island. Angus, my guide for the week, was top-notch; he was hardworking, patient, and helpful in sorting all of the game we were seeing through binoculars and spotting scopes. Over a few days, we studied plenty of deer throughout a major system of ridges and valleys before putting a stalk on a good first stag! Camp was a great little hut on the valley floor of one of the drainage systems we were hunting. Angus brought plenty of food, drove some gorgeous but rugged roads, and packed out more than his share of meat and antler.
Having spent plenty of time in New Zealand - it's a great place to do some hunting for some gorgeous game animals. The logistics, access, and gear it takes to successfully hunt in New Zealand makes it pretty difficult. Don't stress too much - Southern Hunting Adventures is the perfect option for that once-in-a-lifetime stag hunt. They chase other game too - but I've only hunted red deer with them (so far!). I'm looking forward to returning to hunt with them sometime down the road, maybe for tahr or fallow deer. Anyhow, I'd give Sheldon and Angus six stars in this review if I could. Leave the tough logistics and quality land access problems to Southern Hunting Adventures - they set me up on a great hunt that I'll never forget. Thanks, gents!
