★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great during low tide for paddle boarding! We were there 9h30, water temperature was great. Would suggest going in earlier next time, would be better between 7 and 8 I reckon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place for a walk along the beach or through plantings. Cafe and play areas. Good public toilets and showers. Beach is safe for swimming. Also areas for paddle boarding, kayaking etc and people fish at the western end (called Back Beach but all part of the same beach) of Tahunanui Beach. Back Beach is also a dogwalking area. No dogs allowed at the eastern end of the beach.

Safe swimming areas for children and youth...
Perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking.
At one end, that is not so safe for children to swim it has the dog area - hours of fun here for these furry friends. The majority of dog owners are vigilant about picking up their per deposits, and keeping it a safe place for other dogs, and children to walk about.
Lots of Nelsonians enjoy their daily exercise along this beach.
Great safe playgrounds close to the dunes.
Activities like water slides, Nature land, ProKart, Skating, mini golf, trampolines, and Laser Tag for youth and families.
Sports fields, tennis courts, beach volleyball, and family BBQ areas with free gas BBQ areas.
Something for everyone in every season!
