★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful reserve, my partner fished while my kids swam.
Quiet, peaceful
Next time might camp overnight and do some of the walks ☺

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a nice park for a day away from Auckland, or en route to Coromandel, and it's usually not busy. Relaxing walks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Farewell to you Tap's! Have had the best times exploring everything here with the best people to show me around the place! Nothing but beautiful and definitely will always have a place in my heart!
It's worth the short drive off the main road for anyone who wants to enjoy rural New Zealand, along with our Native Trees and Bushes and gorgeous Coastlines.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing beautiful and relaxing. Awesome swimming and hiking. The Park Ranger is a lovely man. I had the pleasure of been involved with Splore (music festival) and enjoyed been in the open spaces and breathing healthy fresh air. It is a rubbish free regional park, so please only leave your footsteps in the sand and enjoy such a magical place

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this place, absolutely amazing, make sure to book before turning up, if you wish to camp, so you have the codes to open the gate etc..
You have beautiful views of the Coromandel across the way, a calm beach and some excellent trekking around too.
There is an upper and a lower camp, one that is sheltered and surrounded and one that is a little more open being ontop of the cliff, gives you a bit more sun in the evening though..
If you are looking for just a picnic or day trip experience this is the place to go, you have a boat ramp a bay over in the Orere township and there is relatively close amenities too. (superette/dairy sorta thing).
The treks are a little challenging walking up the hills, but totally worth it if you're looking for a challenge and haveing a bit of an adventure on the side.
There is a long drop and cold shower facilities and mobile coverage is there around the picnic area but not very good in the lower campsite if you want to disconnect..
The roads are windy so remember to pull over every once in a while if you have locals backing up behind you..
Otherwise enjoy the scenic route there and have fun enjoying this park!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I did the Tapapakanga Costal walk and it was beautiful. The scenery is amazing. It looked like not much people does this track because the path was a little bit hard to follow and the grass was really tall but apart from that I totally recommend it. Nice 2 hours of walking.
