Tararua Health Group provides primary healthcare services to the large rural district of Tararua situated in Southern Hawkes Bay on the East Coast of New Zealand. We are a large organisation delivering GP care, hospital services, nurse-led clinics and community nursing from over five sites.
Our vision is to provide "rural healthcare at its best" by:

Our staff, over 120 in number, work in a model of care which is multi-disciplinary, integrated and caring. There is a diverse range of health professionals including GPs, nurse practitioners, specialist nurses, practice/rural hospital nurses, allied health staff and management. The organisation is clinically-led with extensive input from all scopes of practice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wife got a major tooth ache and phoned dentist couldn’t get an appointment, dentist advice her to get antibiotics for the tooth she phoned nurse at the health centre who said she will get her a prescription for the next day. In the meantime she had to deal with this tooth ache. Phone the pharmacy this morning only to find that the prescription not ready yet. Phone the health centre again and they say it will be ready this afternoon.In the meantime still unbelievable pain. Just got a call from the medical centre to say they can’t give the prescription and that there is open clinic in Hastings and Palmerston North. We will close the file at this hopeless health centre and move to somewhere else. Poor service
