Tartines Cafe - Eastbourne
Camille Furminieux, the owner, comes from Rhone Valley in France where she obtained a Hospitality Degree, specialising in Fine dining. At 19 she left France and travelled her way through Ireland and America where she explored & developed her passion for customer service and French cuisine.
Landing in New Zealand in 2011 she fell in love with the beautiful land, people & lifestyle. After exploring the country, Camille settled in Wellington where she spent 7 years working at one of Wellington’s leading fine dining restaurants.
In 2018 Camille decided to venture out on her own and had the opportunity to set up Tartines in the beautiful village of Eastbourne. It was an easy decision as Eastbourne reminds her of the quaint village communities back home.
Head Chef, Laurent Loudeac who joins Camille recently, also comes to us from France but spend the last 25 years in New Zealand.
The pair has been working together for almost a decade and won in 2015, the Global Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge held in Sri Lanka.
Their aim is to create an authentic French menu that they can share with the good people of Eastbourne. A little piece of France, with all the delights of their childhood memories of cafΓ© and home cooked treats.

β β β β β Lovely french cafe! We had an amazing brunch with some galette de sarrazin (this is a traditional meal in my Region : Bretagne) and I can tell this is the best galette I have eaten in New Zeland. The Creme brulee was also beautiful! I definitly recommend that place ... be prepared it can be hard to choose between all the choices from the menu and the cabinet !

β β β β β Fabulous French menu, tasty and well presented. Nice location but shame it was a lousy day. Where else would your wait person sing you Happy Birthday ?

β β β β β We went to Tartines on a busy Sunday morning for brunch, the waitstaff were very friendly & the chef went above & beyond to cater to dietary requirements which we very much appreciated - the meal he came up with was beautiful. Reasonably priced food with great coffee as well, will definitely be back!

β β β β β Wonderful, authentic French food. Busy and bustling, its more of a group destination than for a solo diner like I was. Well worth the walk from the Ferry.

β β β β β Good selection of food (especially deserts). Coffee could be better, a bit acidy for my taste. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

β β β β β Got my dose of french goodness there for the first time and I was happy with the experience.
Crowded on a sunny day, the glass ceilling in addition with the frenchy atmosphere set the tone. Then, the really creative and mouth-watering delicacies in the cabinet pump up the excitment. Didn't have the opportunity to try meals from the lunch menu, however i confirm: it's a legit french cafe with a local twist. Will come back again!
