Amazing views, good work out for the lungs. We started at Tapotupotu through to the Cape. Track muddy in places and Sandy Bay needs to be crossed before high tide. I recommend the use of walking poles. Had left a car at the Cape so only walked one way. Enjoy!

Go early so you can really enjoy tobogganing on the vast Sandune. One other thing to keep in mind is that the stream gets flooded with the high tide and you can be stranded on the other side. This is really an amazing spot you can almost feel like you’re John Wick in John Wick3 movie traversing the sand dunes. One of the cool things as we were driving down the one lane dirt road, is that a sheepherder and his dogs were moving from one pasture to the next. Those dogs had such intense focus it was really cool to watch.

Great place to wander. Awesome designed tracks around the headlands. Stunning views over the many bays, Cape Reinga lighthouse and the Pacific Ocean meeting the Tasman Sea. Nature's beauty everywhere. It's worth the trip up to the Top of the North Island.

We arrived here just before sunset. The wind was blowing. Took this walk down to the lighthouse, outstanding. Looking in every direction the ocean is spectacular. As the sun moved lower it brought beautiful light to the ocean, sky and hills. Make sure to bring your camera.

A “must do” hiking trail with access adjacent to the trail to the Cape Reinga lighthouse! The trail is fairly easy to do and there are sweeping panoramic views of the ocean, beaches and cliffs from the trail. You can hike all the way down to the beach, if you like, but the hike back up is a little strenuous. Take the time to enjoy the scenery from this trail when you are visiting Cape Reinga or wandering around the northern part of the North Island

Well maintained hiking trail with Stunning view over Pacific Ocean meeting the Tasman Sea. It's definitely a must go trail in the top of the North Island.
