★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I found this restaurant online before I left Sydney, and it was further recommended by two locals. So glad we visited. It was one of the best meals we’ve had in NZ. Each bite was better than the next… so tasty, wholesome and clearly some great quality NZ produce. The service was great, and the staff were very hospitable and attentive. We will definitely return!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Simply one of the best meals I had for a long time. We picked this restaurant to have a family dinner during our trip to Taupo. I was stunned with the quality of food and its presentation. Huge congratulations to the chef for his taste and imagination. It was real culinary adventure. Fantastic service, too! Beautiful restaurant! Definitely going to go back there once in Taupo again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ WOWEEEEE!!! Honestly, we walked out of this place gobsmacked by how AMAZING their food was! We were only in Taupo for 2nts but ate here on both nights because it was that good. And both times the food was just outstanding. I mentioned to the waitress, if we could lick the plates clean we would have ?
Amazing amazing amazing & couldn't recommend enough! The Bistro is a MUST if you're in Taupo.
Lovely family run business with friendly staff who can offer a world of knowledge on the area if you ask.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My friend and I were visiting Taupo for the weekend and i chose this restaurant because of its great vegetarian choices. My heart sinks when I see a pasta dish or a risotto as a main course option on a restaurant's menu. It was so lovely to see The Bistro making an effort with their vegetarian/vegan choices for entrees and main course. On top of this the food and service were impeccable. My friend who had the Scotch fillet said it was devine!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always such a personal and delicious experience, can't wait to go back for our annual anniversary dinner in September. It's hubby's only good steak in town so he got a treat for his birthday this time. So sad when all the food is gone and eaten and we can't afford to buy any more. Ideally we would have had double of the starters we chose and seconds of our mains also. ?

We were there for dinner over Easter weekend and the food is stunning. We had rabbit terrine as entree (not pictured) then the beef with creamy spinach and mushrooms (the white foam hides a delicious ravioli) and the duck with veggies. I wished the duck had more variety of textures. Although both meats were beautiful cooked and the portions are perfect!
Dessert was a creme brulee which was full of vanilla seeds and not too sweet, it was just right.
Will definitely come again to check the seasonal changes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing food and service! The calamari and cured raw fish were my favourite! Also loved the complimentary homemade sourdough and lemon brown butter curd served on arrival. The option to pay $65 for a entree, main and dessert was great value for money. We will definitely be back!
