This laid-back accommodation is only a one minute walk from the beautiful Lake Taupo. Located in the centre of town, close to all the main shops and grocery stores. We are situated above Taupo’s only Tex/Mex restaurant and in the hub of the rest of Taupo’s restaurants and bars. It is the perfect location for the unplanned weekend getaway or staying a day or two to explore everything Taupo has to offer. The world-famous Huka Falls is only a 7km walk away, along a scenic riverside trail suitable for all people.

Being less than a 2-minute walk from the main bus station in town and directly accessible from a front door taxi rank makes this perfectly situated accommodation ideal for all travellers of all needs. Driving yourself? No need to worry, Taupo has plenty of free car parking spots just a few minutes walk from the hostel’s front doors.

S	Sam on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible. My friend and I booked room 101 - twin room with ensuite. A basic room with everything a guest needs but this room is located under the stairs so you hear people stomping up and down the stairs all night as they go to and from their rooms on the upper levels. The worst thing is the Mexican bar-restaurant under the hostel rooms. The DJ plays excessively loudly until 3am (Saturday night, not sure of other nights) with the noise and room shaking with the vibration, so sleep is not possible and you feel like you're in the nightclub. Staff were not on reception during the night to assist as advised during check-in, and it is disappointing staff are not informing guests of this disturbance at check-in so they can go elsewhere to avoid this disturbance rather than leave negative reviews. Lastly, the bed had bed bugs. I was informed housekeeping would deal with the situation but any international traveller knows this is not how bed bugs are effectively dealt with....

Our shower door had a broken hinge allowing water to leak everywhere in the tidy bathroom shared between four of us. The toilet also had a super loose seat so when you sat down you were almost sliding off the side. Noise of the bar near by was so loud till the early morning which we accepted but the slamming doors of other guests could be resolved with the ‘soft-closing’ put on the back of them. Are the doors fire safety with a good inch gap at the bottom? And no soap provided during these post covid times,...something I would recommend they look at providing considering what we paid definitely would have cover this cost. I didn’t consider this was worth what we paid.

We paid the tonnes as much to stay in a hotel last year, I couldn't even walk upright around the bed, the base, heaps of room.
x	xChain GameZx on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clean hostel facilities, great location. Staff friendly & accommodating. Lift only goes to 1st floor , so those movement impaired, be ready to tackle another two flights of stairs should you be booking a single room. Overall, great stay ?

My partner and I stayed here for 1 night thinking that it would be a nice spot to stay close to the lake however we quickly learnt that this was not the case. We stayed in a single room with an ensuite, as we entered the room it was clear to see how small the room was, so small you could step from the bed to bathroom and then to out the door. The double bed attached at the bottom of a bunk was very thin and uncomfortable and we were kept up to very early hours of the morning with the music from the night club across the road. I was very disappointed with the shared kitchen, it lacked cooking equipment and what they did have was very, very dirty. The 2 pans they did have looked about 20 years old! During the night there are no staff, it seems like the homeless like to enter and sleep on the bean bags in the main reception area. I definitely would not recommend this place as an accommodation option.
