Catch rainbow or brown trout or go fly fishing with a local guide up one of the many rivers in the area. Hire a boat or take a scheduled cruise on Lake Taupo. I don't have toast which I think they charged me for anyway, so for $14 I got a tiny portion of scrambled egg, and a small bit of salmon. Definitely underwhelming. I can get better for less elsewhere, so that's what I'll do.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The freshest selection of homemade cabinet food and lots on offer for vegetarians. My favorite is the small version of some of their slices because you don't always need a big slice with your coffee but it's hard to resist the half size Louise cake or Ginger crunch.

The sourdough bread (with our eggs) was the tastiest I've had! Great coffee too.
Also, despite being on the main Street the traffic noise was low.

Relaxed and friendly ambience and good service...
Amazing Orange and poppy seeds, carrot cake, brownie and vegan shepherd pie among other yummy options...
Give it a try... it never disappoints.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They have gone to lengths to create a welcoming easy experience that makes you want to stay. Great if you are looking for a base to eat, read, discover what is happening locally. Fantastic menu. Whether you want healthy or something indulgent. My breakfast, mushrooms, spinach and poached eggs on hash browns with hollandaise sauce was yummy!
