★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clean, friendly atmosphere with helpful staff available. The close proximity to downtown made it an excellent place to live for young professionals.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Owners can't control the behaviour of its guests. Used to but seems things have gotten worse and its happening more and more frequently.
He lets his longterm foreign guests smoke and party outside to such degrees that noise control has valid shutdown actions. Not music, loud talking and disregard for the 30or so bedrooms at neighbouring properties

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great quiet place to live while you are apartment hunting in the city. Rent includes power and internet making bills simple and the internet is very fast and reliable.
Things to keep in mind if you are planning on living here
Rooms are very hit or miss. Some have heaps of sunlight, some have 0 sunlight. Make sure you keep that in mind when viewing. Room 18 has no sunlight
Has an ant problem so bring an air tight containers for food
Bring your own cooking utensils as the ones provided are terrible and you wont have all the essentials. Also like all hostels there's always someone who doesn't do their dishes. Knives, frying pans, can opener & peeler will be needed.
Otherwise its a great cheap place to live in wellington.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed at the Carillon for nearly 3 months. New to Wellington, new job and away from family for that time. I intended to stay there for 6 months but our house settled sooner than expected. I really enjoyed my stay. My room did not have a whole lot of natural light but it did not bother me. My single room was well ventilated, it was fresh and functional. The ensuite was reasonably new, water pressure great and unlimited WIFI. It is a great location, close to town but hidden from road hustle and bustle. There are security cameras, night lights, etc so my car and eBike perfectly safe. The other residents are friendly and very respectful of each other and your space. The Carillon is managed by Phil who will take care of you and make sure all is ok. If you need a home-away-from-home, like peace and quiet and just doing your own thing then give Matt and/or Phil a call.
