Some lovely options including eggs on toast, Bircher, eggs Benedict, French toast etc Clean room and a large room as well Very clean Service excellent! Friendly welcome on arrival and in the restaurant. I stayed after some surgery and they brought up ice for my recovery machine. The decor was a bit tired in some places but we didn’t care. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, plus the heritage nature of the property was awesome. Would definitely stay there again.

deeply average, made booking with called immediately both hotel and booking company about incorrect dates neither esplanade nor booking company could help. chose to charge for a booking that was 3 days later than actually aid in any way. Pretty garbage customer service imo.

We stayed Friday night, with the world's staffing shortage you'll have to think of this as a Motel rather than a Hotel. The restaurant is closed, breakfast wasn't and staff are absent. With the motel model in mind you will enjoy your stay; the location, views and period architecture are amazing. The sour note for us was that the older guy at the desk was a bit devious, he charged CC fees on EftPos & refused the $11 refund.

Lovely sun room with a view over the harbour but unfortunately that's about the only nice thing about it. I can deal with the "shabby chic", "not maintained since the last century", look but I really struggle with a bed that hasn't been comfortable since 1986 when it was purchased and a shower drain that smells like the Dead Marshes. And to top it all off the price was equally uncomfortable and smelly. Save your money and your back and find an Airbnb in the area. Not recommended.

I booked extremely last minute so appreciated them preparing a sea view room for me with such short notice. The man was very welcoming and kind but unfortunately due to 3 chefs and 2 other workers having covid, therefore, no food was available as the kitchen was closed. The room decor was rather dated and not nice, monkeys on the feature wall paper? No idea who thought that was a good idea. The glass ? had some lipstick on it and the other glasses available a bit dusty even though they were in a cabinet. The bathroom sink hole needs replacing as there's green staining on it, the shower curtain was white but clearly had tiny black mold spots, the bathroom floor had aged stains in the tile around the toilet, obviously from urine, there was no toilet paper (glad I packed my own just in case). The room had a small lounge area attached to it and they'd kindly put an oil heater on to warm the room. The bed wasn't very comfortable and you could feel the split in the bed plus blankets very thin and an awful red (but that's imo that it looked like a $5 fleece from TWH). It was a stormy night when I booked in and so the room was rather noisy and I struggled to fall asleep for hours, could hear someone's footsteps walking around above me too and what sounded like a washing machine? The view, even though night time, was still visible and the location I'd say is the best thing the place has going for it. Tired old Xmas lights were used to light the stairwell and I think the owners need to invest some money to update and upgrade everything. It's such a shame having a beautiful old building and not using it to it's full potential.

I got upgraded to a "penthouse" because my booking included breakfast that they don't offer anymore. The room size and view were good. The hotel location was great but that was the extent of the pluses. Checked in took forever because the guy was running around getting other thing for other guests. Bed was a bit lumpy. You can feel the gap where the two single mattresses pushed together. The mugs in the kitchen still have coffee stains on the side. There was no toilet paper and the toilet did not flush. Front desk closed early and open late so couldn't get ahold of anyone to tell about the toilet until the next morning. Had to stand there for 10 minutes for the girl to take a break from her personal calls for me to tell her about that broken toilet. She even acted like I was bothering her on her phone call, turning herself away from me, no eye contact. Rudest person to have to meet first thing in the morning.
