About The Good Home
December of 2012 saw the latest hospitality venture enter the New Plymouth bar and restaurant scene. David and Sheryl Stones wanted to open a restaurant and bar that people would feel “At home”. A homely environment, great wholesome food and wonderful service that would make everyone feel at home just as you would expect when you were around at friend’s or a mate’s place! And so The Good Home was born ….. The décor starts as you enter through a porch-like entrance and through the front door into the main area of The Good Home. It is like an extension of everyone’s home, with different areas of the bar created into different rooms of a home. And you can see its even got a mailbox at the front of the ‘house’!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff are good … not happy to be there but let’s be honest who’s happy to be at work anyway. Food is meh. Got the NOTORIOUS PIG sandwich .. was expecting mostly pork belly … 5% pork 95% fat = 100% gross in my mouth. Saw the mountain airs which was definitely the highlight (it made up for the bad food)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Reasonable place for drinks and meals. The prawns dished out were not the best... But they tried as they were not on the menu. Lot of the mains looked pretty ordinary and tasted ordinary too.
Ok to visit once. Need to lift up the hand in terms of freshness of food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sorry guys, very disappointed with the meal that was delivered. Mushroom sauce to accompany steak had 3 slivers of Mushroom and was the consistency of water. The burger was tasty enough but lacking in the amount of fillings, on par with McDonald's, the pizza was ok. This meal cost over
$80 and was poor value for money
Won't be ordering anything more in the future ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pizza here is great, they have a good range of platters and bar food. A reasonable range of beer and liquor, I'd go somewhere else for cocktails.
Stonegrilled food is served here, high quality meat from local butchers. Rate that highly.
Amazing venue, good outdoor areas on both sides with access to a rooftop bar at the front. Cozy inside the bar. Outdoor seating can be uncomfortable if you're there for a while.
I like this bar, it has a relaxing vibe.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been here for lunch and the food was good. Sitting outside with the good weather was a bonus. Tried their wings, caesar salad and chicken pizza and we enjoyed it. The staff Kim was so friendly and made the over all experience even better. Would definitely visit again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went with a group of friends for dinner tonight and was served by a lovely lady called Kim, who is an absolute credit to your establishment. Fantastic service and a really lovely personalised service.
We mainly ordered steaks, which were delicious, only niggle was that the garlic mash was a bit dry.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have had the best dinning experience at the Good Home last Friday thanks to the wonderful staff Kim.
I walked in around 4:20pm and was hoping I can have an early meal sorted before picking up my daughter finishes her ballet class at 5pm. Kim politely told me dinner starts at 5 but she was willing to talk to the kitchen for me so I could sit down and eat. Swiftly she got back to me and got a table for me & my son. And I have my order in right the way.
While waiting for my food (Surf & Turf sticks) , my 5 yrs-old needed the toilet(typical!) so we went & when we came back Kim was there looking after my food. She was there making sure my prawns weren’t overlooked on the hot stone. She’s just so wonderful! And she is aware I had to eat quickly and she’s always there ready for help. When I finished she said “ now you still got time to pick up your daughter :) ”
What can I say!? Food at Good Home was as great as usual but the experience with Kim’s amazing service has definitely brought the dining experience to next level. Thank you Kim & Good Home!
