The Goodhome Gastropub - Papamoa Beach

Insulted by New staff. Service standards have dropped dramatically. I ordered a Stella Artois and the barman tries to repurpose an old pour sitting under the bar. I politely said that i would like a fresh beer. He argued that it is OK to do so and I told him mildly that it is not the standard in NZ. Being foreign takes offence and orders me out to be the bar.

We’ve recently moved into Papamoa and given The Good Home a go on 3 separate occasions. The last experience was average. Front of house staff was great ?? Got us a table at around 6:40pm - drinks ordered - received at 6:50 - ordered dinner at 7pm and waited a whole hour for a cheese burger and pork belly to arrive. Not overly busy and the food was average. I’m sorry kitchen staff but you shouldn’t get a cheese burger wrong. Wilted iceberg lettuce, dry patty and just no real attention to presentation. Pork belly looked promising but was dry and the jus was a watery mess. I enjoyed the beer. Sorry team that’s all I have for you.

Recent poor reviews are accurate. Can't be a chef on a Wednesday night because I get served poorly reheated ribs and my partner gets reheated, dry pork belly. Heard good things but sorely disappointed.

Had an early dinner with family members with children. The wait and bar staff were very friendly and happy. Nice atmosphere and good music playing. Meals were good except for the ribs, very chewy and slim also the caesar salad was very wet and a small portion for price.

This restaurant is great, has sitting outside or inside, cocktails + mocktails, the salmon plate I had buckwheat (which i dont really enjoy) and it didnt go that well with the salmon, it would go nice with some israeli couscous. However the sauce was good.

Dined here a few times and today was the best service we’ve received. The two girls who served us were attentive, upbeat and friendly. We were there for lunch for my Mum’s birthday. Thanks for making it a special day. Food was great too!

Very disappointed with the service and food. Ordered mussels, and the sauce was very runny and minimal taste. When we asked for it to be thickened - they were not prepared to do this and was told ‘this is how we serve it’. All it needed was a simple reduction and a bit seasoning and they were not prepared to accommodate that: What happened to ‘ the customer is always right!’ Won’t be returning there.

Unhappy due the lack of customer service when it was needed when our a meal was wrong, this is a add on from another complaint as i feel this place needs advice on where to improve. once the meal was wrong was agreed to be replaced with another one which we were grateful for but that's were the service stopped! the excuse for the poorly cooked salmon was because it was asked to be fully cooked it shrunk and was dry. I assured them that the piece of fish can be cooked without it needing to be dry and burnt the shrunken part is them being cheap. took a very long time for us to even get the replacement meal which in the end i said they can have it as we needed to go due to our little one was getting restless after 1H 45mins. We did not asked for a refund or anything paid for our meal fully which they offered a refund on it but instead of sorting this problem out turned to serve our people instead of finishing with us so we just left. Wasn't the most pleasant experience! To rush the replacement meal thru cause we decided to leave and not have it cooked fully is not the way to do it the waitress asked for it to get done cause she told us 5 mins and from standing up to walking out she had it ready. fully cooked food has the potentially to get people sick. No taste nor the base was cooked as per photos . The level of service that this place provided in a situation when things weren't right could be worked on tremendously , also if there is a issue with a review please reply to it instead of ringing my eldery grandma and getting very hosile with her. I'm happy to call you but take this review and improve please.
